2016 The Villages Oktoberfest (Oct 18)

Tuesday dawned bright as I headed up to Ocala to our comissary kitchen and Cheney Brothers food distributors. If vendors prepare (cut and cook) food items, they must have a comissary kitchen that is licensed by the state in which they prepare their food. The reason is obvious, protection of the public against food borne illnesses. I purchased 50# of potatoes and onions, lots of sour cream, and a few spices. I then headed over (only two miles) to our comissary kitchen "Let's Eat Fresh," owned by a sweet young woman named Rosaria and her authentic Sicilian mother Maria. I love cooking in their kitchen as there is always losts going on. I prepared potatoe pancakes for the evenings Oktoberfest in the Villages. Now that we have been working and learning everything from how to efficiently pack our trucks, how much food to buy, what kind of events to apply for, etc, we were hoping that this special October event would finally pay off. Voila! We weren't disappointed! We did very well at this event and looked forward to the second Oktoberfest only two days later.
