A 'very breezy bright day welcomed the Del Webb Oktoberfest and car show near Ocala. Jim wanted to try fruit cups after speaking with one of the food managers at Winn Dixie about what was one of their best sellers. WD's manager told him that the plastic cup fruit cups just "fly off the shelves." Well, since we were still trying out what food works at what events and what doesn't, we decided to give it a try. We purchased a small case online of platic cups with lids, fruit to process, and our usual corn. This venue was going to be small as we knew, but we decided to give it a try. All of the books, blogs, and information that we've read about food vending say that food vending requires patience and a lot of trial and error experiences. Needless to say, we hope each time that our "ship will come in," but more often than not it seems to be off course. The crowd was enthusiastic, but small; therefore, we really didn't expect too mcuh, and we weren't disappointed. After six hours of a very pleasant day (with only enough sales to cover our costs) we headed home and once again analyzed what we were doing.
