What's not to love about a Harley rally? The deep-throttled roar of a Harley, manly bikers all decked out in their Harley gear with those leather wallets on long chains hanging from their belts, and sharp-looking biker chicks sporting plenty of BLING, are the main ingredients of Harleysphere. And what a great place to serve our signature dishes than in Panama City Beach and the local Harley dealership. This was going to be our biggest event yet because we were scheduled to set up on April 27th, four days before the actual rally. The early set up would give us an opportunity to get well acquainted with Harley culture, and believe me it is a culture in nearly every respect--dress code, language, and food! From Friday, the 28th, until May 5th, we fought 25-35 mph winds every day. I was either chasing foil sheets or paper boats down the street. The four or five days prior to the beginning of the rally, I was busy serving our signature Conecuh dogs, which I must say went over extremely well. In anticipation of the Harley, I developed a new menu featuring four different types of sausage dogs--the naked dog, Harley dog, Hawg dog, and Tijuana dog, along with my own recipe for spicy pimento cheese and spicy mayo. The naked dog is a nearly foot-long Conecuh dog on a bun, the Harlee dog (my spelling), is a Conecuh dog topped with grilled onions, the Hawg dog is a Conecuh dog topped with our signature spicy pimento cheese, and the Tijuana dog is a Conecuh dog topped with our own spicy pimento cheese and onions, wrapped in a tortilla. I must say that our own spicy pimento cheese was a super big hit! What made this rally a special treat for us was Bobby Brantley, star of Lizard Lick Towing, whose photo op booth was directly across from ours. I got a great pic of Bobby and me, along with a signed photo, which is the main page of our website. The stars of Orange County Choppers was next to Bobby's booth so we were able to "hang around" with those stars as well. We met a super-nice Ice Tea vendor whose booth was next to ours. His iced tea was the best and we even got our tin cups to keep. We had great fun exchange products with one another rather than money. Yeah vendor life! It was long days of prep, cook, and serve, but the people at PCB Harley and Thunder Beach Productions were so professional and helpful. The entire Harley crew and scores of volunteers made this year's Harley Rally just perfect!!! Check out the two video clips below and "feel the roar."
